The Current News

January 14, 2017

First, I must apologize.

I stated in a previous blog that I was going to do some blogging on new work and then did not follow through.  Not fair to you, my readers. I did intend and did not do.

Second, my paintings and drawings are still being sold on Etsy, see: MetamorphisArts on Etsy.  I am changing the venue for my jewelry, and adding other money-streams.

So I am plunging into the deep end and getting serious about this work. I will do as I have done in the past, and document my process for you to see how and why I designed and created.

I love art. I love to create beautiful works of art. I hope you will love them too!

The next few blogs will be about the direction I am taking in my jewelry work, and the “Winter 2015 Collection”.  Meanwhile, enjoy…

Paisley Cloth Cuffs

You can get the overall feel for this particular Cloth Cuff idea.  The Rhinestones were a nice touch, don’t you think??  These cuffs have a snap closure.

IMG_2707Here is a close-up view of the decorative elements.

No nothing is perfect.  Especially my sewing. Although I am getting better at sewing with a machine! Best way to develop a skill, is to repeatedly work at doing it, right?

You can find the Fabric cuffs in my Etsy Shop

To the right, paisley with yellow and hot pink lace

I made a few cuffs with these color schemes, varying the decorative elements on them.  It is fun to see how the designing of the cuffs come together.

By the way, the pattern is my own.  I created it using wax paper, of all things.  I just fold in the ends for smaller/shorter cuff lengths.

More Cloth Cuffs

With these cuffs, I was still experimenting with closures on cloth cuffs.  I used velcro on these cuffs for closures.  Not exactly the best of ideas.

There are embroidered antennae on the butterfly and a pink button.  My first try at Rhinestones.  I like the way they look.  But, just let me say…being a “cheapskate” and not getting the tool to apply them was interesting.  The store had a pen-like applicator for gluing them.  Not real fun.  I used hand-sewn snaps for closure.  Much better than velcro!

Joanns Fabric Store has so many cool things that can be used for making anything you like from crafts to sewn items. The roses caught my eye, and well you can see the result here!

Gently Down the Stream

Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.
— Nursery Rhyme

Today’s Journal Prompts:

If I let my creative work was [flow?] easy, then…

Ideas come to me in the most wonderful ways. They work well in creating art. I am joyful, and feeling very good about myself. That ZEN space is created in which to encapsulate my process and flow.

When my creative work flows, it looks like this:

Or, like this:

When I go gently in my creative work, what happens is…

My creativity will flow…and art is produced. It comes easily.

If this is all really a dream, then…

I am finding the “dream” pleasant right now!

If I allowed myself to float gently, letting the current of my heart’s desire carry me, my little boat would take me…
I don’t know for sure, but I cannot wait to see where the current is flowing!

navigational tools

If I were a lamp, I would…

Shine the light on what is blocking me, in all the various ways…
Or free the Genie, to assist me!

If I were a lifeboat, I would…

Float through all of the hinky stuff, the crazy / drama-making stuff which are like tall reeds and jettys beside the stream.  I would be able to get through the reeds without any problem, I would be able to see into the water and understand why I am spinning in little circles.

To be a ladder means…

That I could climb out and see the light of day. It would mean that help was extended to me…

I could reach the sky and talk to spirit, maybe get some clear answers.

I can help someone’s soul heal by…

Understanding their “stuck” points, what are snagging them up, like the reeds in the water, or the whirling jetties at the curves and the edges of the stream (of life) that make people spin in circles getting nowhere.

Find images that represent the lamp, lifeboat and ladder (or draw or paint them) and put them in your journal.

You see them above?

How has your creativity been a lamp, a lifeboat, a ladder, in your own life?

In 2004, I had no friends that understood my spiritual side. I decided to create classes to teach aspects of my healing and spirituality, and possibly find others of like mind.

I found several people. Most of whom needed soul healing, but many who “got” me. I am still friends with a couple of them.

One moved to Chico, and I hardly get to speak with her. The other friend I met through someone who came to my classes. I had recently helped this friend with getting an apartment, she moved down the hall from me.

The lamp” aspect was the idea for the classes, i.e the lamp illuminates the issues and assists us to see the truth in the matter.
The “lifeboat” aspect was that in a sense it kept me from drowning, I could feel a sense of belonging.  i.e. a rowboat helps us in navigating through the issues or down the river [FLOW], keeps us from drowning.
The “ladder” aspect was that I was able to get perspective on my art, along with my healing work, i.e. gives us a means to reach creator/ess when we are stuck.
