Day 17 #30DayJournal
EVERYTHING CAN BE OUR TEACHER
Contemplate the workings of this world, listen to the words of the wise, take all that is good as your own.
With this as your base, open your own door to truth. Do not overlook the truth that is right before you.
Study how water flows in a valley stream, smoothly and freely between the rocks. Also learn from holy books and wise people.
Everything—even mountains, rivers, plants, and trees—should be your teacher.
— Morihei Ueshiba, creator of the discipline of Aikido, from The Art of Peace
Today’s Journal Prompts
My teachers today are:
Nature, such as: plants, flowers, trees, streams / rivers, natural cycles within nature. The writings of Lao Tsu ( in the The Tao), whose concepts and ideas are similar to my spiritual practices of Wicca and Lakota. The people around me who mirror my faults and good aspects teach me by their reflection (sometimes frightening me).
I am taking in all of this good:
By observation, through writing but had not been journaling what I observe only the emotional impact of life and observation. Then I can contemplate the meaning of things, whether literal or metaphoric, that is how I process and absorb the good.
The truth that is right in front of me is…
All things are connected.
That connectedness is on all levels of being.
Water is flowing, that barriers are often circumvented by moving around the object.
Nature has a rhythm and flow, overall. There are cycles in nature (seasons)
Each aspect of nature interacts in some way with other aspects in order to survive, that we as humans need all of nature and each other to survive.
What seems to be “bad” or “evil” in the natural world has its purpose (food chain evolution).
Water and air are the key essential elements of survival for all of creation…even the stone.
